Dat is dus Michael Reinoehl, de Antifa-makker uit dit topic.

Bijzonder wel. VICE News publiceerde gister het bovenstaande exclusieve interview met Reinoehl, waarin hij de moord toe lijkt te geven. "What I will say is that I felt my life, and other people's lives around me were in danger. And I felt like I had no choice but to do what I did (...). It was a free-for-all and the police were letting it happen. (...) I was confident I did not hit anyone innocent. It was totally justified. Had I not acted, I am confident that my friend, and I'm sure I would have been killed. I had no choice. I could have sat there and watched them kill a friend of mine of color, but I wasn’t going to do that."

Op het eerste gezicht geen compleet onmogelijke lezing van de situatie. Het slachtoffer Aaron "Jay" Danielson, onderdeel van beweging Patriot Prayer, onderstaand en hier in het zwarte t-shirt te zien, was volgens de Portland Tribune 'gewapend' met "messen, traangas en andere tactische uitrusting". Kortom, het is dus in principe mogelijk, zoals Reinoehl lijkt te claimen, dat Daniels op het punt stond iemand dood te steken.

De compagnon van Danielson echter, de onderstaander Chandler Pappas, geeft een andere lezing. Bij Tucker Carlson zegt hij over het voorval: "They came up behind us, they shot my friend and killed him." Carlson vraagt naar de omstandigheden die eraan vooraf gingen, en of ze deel uitmaakten van een ruzie. "No, just the yelling. They started yelling at us, we turned around. I didn't even have time to register that somebody was pointing a gun at us before the shots went off." Carlson vraagt vervolgens wat ze naar hen schreeuwden. "We got a couple right here, we got a couple right here, pull it out, pull it out."

Maar goed, we kunnen Reinoehl niet meer om opheldering vragen, want hij is gisteravond tijdens zijn arrestatie gedood door de politie. De NYT schrijft hierover dat "The suspect, Michael Forest Reinoehl, 48, was shot by officers from a federal fugitive task force during the encounter in Lacey, Wash., southwest of Seattle, according to four law enforcement officials familiar with the investigation. (...) “As they attempted to apprehend him, there was gunfire,” Lieutenant Brady said. He said four law enforcement officers fired their weapons. Lieutenant Brady said the Sheriff’s Office, which is investigating the shooting, heard that the suspect was carrying a gun, but he did not immediately know whether the suspect fired a weapon."

UPDATE: volgens een lokale krant was het een guns blazing arrestatie en opende Reinoehl zelf het vuur. "The man got out of his vehicle and began to fire what they believe was an assault rifle at the SUVs. They said they heard 40 or 50 shots, then officers returned fire, hitting the man."
